Why Private Blockchain and How Substrate Framework Can Help

Blockchain and digital identity

Private blockchain is a type of blockchain network that is only accessible by a selected group of participants, offering more scalability, efficiency, and security than public blockchain. However, interoperability and innovation are challenges for private blockchain networks. Substrate Framework is a modular platform that allows developers to build customized blockchains with ease and flexibility. Its support for interoperability through Polkadot Network and innovation through runtime upgradeability feature makes it a powerful tool for private blockchain development. Substrate Framework also supports scalability, performance, security, and governance, and can be used to build identity tokens (IDTs). IDTs are digital tokens that represent one’s identity attributes on the blockchain, enabling users to prove their identity online without revealing sensitive personal information. Substrate Framework provides a customizable platform for building private blockchains and IDTs that are interoperable with other networks or systems through Polkadot Network, enhancing the security and privacy of IDTs.

IoT conference 2022 at Delft

We present in this work a Lightweight Transaction Protocol (LTP) for enabling constrained embedded devices’ interaction with multiple types of blockchains via the LoRaWAN communication protocol. The proposed protocol provides the benefit of interacting with multiple blockchains with only 13.5\% decrease in battery life. The protocol also includes a gateway module API that connects to blockchains and generic smart contracts to authenticate end devices and store their data. The study points out that, in the worst case, end-device data can be stored in blockchains with a latency of 20.3 seconds for Substrate and 6.8 seconds for the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain.

16ème Colloque du GDR SoC2

It was a pleasure to meet the GDR SoC2 community at Télécom Physique Strasbourg. I had the chance to present and talk about my thesis subject with very interesting researchers coming from various domains. Blockchain technology topics seems to slowly but surely getting into the everyday conversations. Mainly because crypto-currencies are at the center of … Read more

Blockchain Stampede 2021

I had the opportunity to participate in the Academic Conferences – HUB Côte d’Azur Blockchain. This conference academic day of the Blockchain Stampede aimed to promote a multidisciplinary dialogue around the new issues related to blockchain, both in terms of design, implementation, uses, or legal issues of a new kind.

Smart IoT for Mobility: Cloudification with TAS Group

After studying multiple blockchains (Hyperledger Sawtooth, IOTA, Ethereum, EOSIO) in a local environment at the LEAT laboratory, we are moving forward with the SIM project using cloud computing with TAS Group partnership (PDF of the press release here). TAS Group specializes in software solutions for electronic money, payment systems, capital markets, and enterprise resource planning.

Comparative study of EOS and IOTA blockchains in the context of Smart IoT for Mobility

Blockchain can record data in a decentralized, secure ledger. Smart Contracts are a novel technology extending blockchain capabilities. It allows secure automated execution of business logic inside the blockchain. The increase in connectivity for connected devices allowed blockchain and smart contracts to create new secure and automated applications.
The internship aims to study two blockchain (EOS.IO & IOTA) in the context of the Smart IoT for Mobility (SIM) project. This report expands previous work on the SIM project by highlighting the key challenges of using blockchain and Smart Contracts along with constrained embedded devices.

Smart IoT for Mobility: Tutorship and internship

I worked on the project Smart IoT for Mobility (SIM): technology for a new economy, using smart contracts (with blockchain technology). The purpose of this tutorship is the implementation of blockchain access with smart contracts within IoT platforms.
